MOTORWAY SAFETY

As you are aware, the M50 is almost complete. If you are unlucky enough to break down on M50 or indeed any main road, please try and stay safe! This may seem obvious, but you would be surprised.

In event of emergency:
1. Pull in as close as possible to barrier or grass verge.
Do not exit the vehicle from the driver side - this is highly dangerous! Where physically able climb over and exit from passenger's side.
2. Where possible turn on lights and hazard lights on.
3. Turn your steering wheel towards barrier or verge as much as possible. Why? In the event of a vehicle hitting you from behind your vehicle will go into the barrier or off road and not into the flow of traffic.
4. Do not stay in car. Wait for recovery rescue as far from the vehicle as possible. If able step over barrier and use it as a buffer between you and traffic.
5. Carry warm clothing in the car no matter what the weather conditions are, you'd be surprise how windy the motorways are.
6. Always have a High Viz vest in your vehicle. If you do not have one, text your name and address to 087 0626 402 and we will gladly send you one free of charge (while stocks lasts).
